My Passive Income Story

My partner Fergus and I retired in 2003...he from many years in banking, with a pension, and I from self employment, no pension.

The thing was, although retired, we still needed to earn income.

Since we had chosen to leave the big city of Toronto, in favor of a more serene lifestyle in Prince Edward County, Ontario, we were forced to put our thinking caps on. We had to come up with how to create passive income for ourselves? We needed ideas.

We didn't want to get jobs again...we had just retired, and this is a small community. There really aren't many jobs here at all, least of all for retired people like us.

So we started to explore ways in which we could create for ourselves, more income. It's amazing how creative you can be when you really start to throw ideas around...or when you're desperate.

Here's what we came up with and why.

We liked the idea of network marketing. At our age, we couldn't think of another kind of business that could grow as fast as a network marketing business. It had the potential to provide passive income and residual income as well.

We liked the idea of having a website. We could have a home based internet marketing business...but what could we market, and better yet, how do we do it?

Since we are well past the nifty fifties, we don't have years and years to learn about search engine optimization and internet marketing strategy, and web site submission, and all that other gobble-dee-gook.

...but let me explain

I was never one of those people who knew right from the very beginning what I wanted to do with my life. Oh, I was happy enough, doing what I was doing, but I always knew I was capable of a lot more.

Some people instinctively know what they want to do. Some people choose a wise career path and follow it. Some people never find out.

So I feel very fortunate now, at this point in my life that I have finally figured it out.

I feel very grateful, that I have found something I truly love to do.

I love animals...my passion is dogs, and so I am blending my knowledge of dog health and nutrition, along with herbs and nutritional supplements from an excellent company and putting it all together using online internet marketing.

I have the best of both worlds... passive income and residual income from my home based internet marketing business.

How did I get started

My son, Adrien, bless his heart, gave me my first computer in 2002. He said, and I quote... " Mum, you've got to get a computer, you're a dinosaur ".

So, he did... and then he left me to figure it out.

One of the things I wanted to do with my new computer, was to have a home based internet marketing business and earn money online.

I really had no idea what that meant, or how to do it...

...and like many others, I spent money and time, fruitlessly.

When the Student is Ready, the Teacher Appears

One day, when I was surfing the net, I came across an interesting website...the topic of which, I have long forgotten.

The owner of this website said that she had designed, built and was marketing this website herself...and she said I could do it too.

Well, that caught my attention. Me, build a website ???
