Understanding Natural Dog Health

Natural dog health means two things.

  1. finding the real, underlying, root cause of dog health problems.
  2. using alternative, holistic methods to restore balance and health.

If you can do these two things, gradually symptoms of dog health problems will improve and even disappear.

Now don't get me wrong. I love my vet, and I need him.

However, one of the biggest problems with traditional veterinary dog health care is that it often treats only the symptom of the disease. The root cause, the imbalance, the origin of the illness goes unnoticed, and therefore remains untreated.

I prefer not to look at your dog's symptoms only. All symptoms are clues that lead to the real dog health problem lurking inside.

Help me unravel the mystery of why your dog is sick.

Tell me a little bit about your dog. Give me some health history.

People write to me with their dog health questions. Here's an example.

A person will contact me and say that their dog has impacted anal glands and the vet wants to remove them. Upon questioning, I find out that the dog has a history of digestive problems. So you see what I mean. The anal gland problem is rooted in a digestive system disorder.

We can use the Body Systems approach to natural dog health to find the root cause.

Once you understand how the different body systems work, you will understand how your dog's body is a very complex network of organs and organ systems. Each organ and system has a special and unique job to do. Everything is related to, and dependent upon, everything else.

This is where good health starts.

Health is a condition where all the tissues of the body are functioning in a normal manner. This state of balance is called Homeostasis.

Disease is a lack of normal functioning in any part, organ or organ system of the body.

Your dog's body cannot and does not, exist in separate pieces. Your dog is the whole of his body, mind and spirit. The same as you!

This is the natural way of life.

The same principles of natural health apply to dogs, humans, cats, horses, the environment, and all things in life. Given the correct natural circumstances, all life will revert back to it's natural form.

This is also the holistic approach to natural dog health. We seek to restore the original good health your dog was born to enjoy. Natural dog health care is no different than human health care. If restoring good health were as simple as taking a drug or a pill, no dog or person would be ill.

Take a look at Rick and Marcy's dog...Remarkable Remy. Better known as Rocket Dog, Remy is the picture of health. Notice the shiny coat, good teeth and bright eyes.

Solve Dog Health Problems the Natural Way

This is not complicated.

I have been working with dogs to improve dog health the natural way for many years. Here's what I have learned.

Take them back as close as you can, to what they would do naturally in the wild.

So many people ( almost everyone in fact ) in their desperation to help their dog, get caught up in the ' try this, try that ' syndrome. Try different food, try different medicine, try different supplements...try this, try that.

So nothing gets enough time to work. If it had worked, you wouldn't be reading this page right now.

So here is what I suggest.

  1. Provide a good quality diet, as close to species specific as you are able. ( preferably raw dog food, if you can ),
  2. Give a few targeted natural pet supplements or herbs that have the nutritional makeup to speed cellular regeneration. ( dogs in the wild will eat plants that are known to help them )
  3. Commit to working with the process for as long as it takes ( the body produces new cells regularly. All old cells are discarded ).
  4. Don't stop or change the plan if you run into symptoms that appear to be getting worse. ( this is the cleansing process )
  5. Understand that the body heals itself in cycles ( it gets a little better, then a little bit worse, a little better, a little worse... and so on )

That's it!
