How Do I Stop My Dog From Rushing Out of the Door Before Me?

When ever someone knocks at our front door, my dog goes completely crazy. He barks insanely and rushes out in front of me when I open the door. This intimidates most people, even those that know my dog, and really scares some people that don't know him.

He doesn't bite or anything like that, but just is so excited that he is really noisy and could knock you down if you weren't prepared for the rush.

When I go to the door to open it, I try to stand in front of him to stop the rush, but he always manages to slip by me anyway.

Can you help me with this problem?
