Natural Dog Health Care.

You Can Prevent Dog Health Issues

If you are facing dog health issues, there can be many reasons for this.

Dog health care is a very broad topic, but let's take a closer look.

A Healthy Dog is a Happy Dog

Take a look at Remarkable Robust Remy...better known as ' Rocket Dog '. Remy is the picture of health. Notice the shiny coat, good teeth and bright eyes.

Healthy dog

One of the biggest problems with traditional veterinary health care, is that it often treats only the symptom of the disease. The root cause, or the origin of the illness goes untreated.

Natural holistic dog health care seeks to address the underlying cause of the dog health issue. This will restore your dog's general health, and symptoms of dog health problems will disappear.

These are the Eight Main Causes of Disease

1 - Nutritional Deficiencies - This is defined as the absence or insufficiency of some nutritional factor needed for normal growth and development. This can be the lack of one or more mineral nutrients, which prevents optimum growth.

2 - Contagions - are defined as diseases that may be transmitted by direct or indirect contact. Bacteria, viruses, fungus, molds, yeast are pathogens which may be the direct cause of a communicable disease.

3 - Immune System Dysfunction - is defined as the disturbance, impairment, or abnormal functioning of the Immune System.

4 - Abnormal Metabolism - metabolism refers to the physical and chemical processes that occur inside the cells of the body and that maintain life. Metabolism consists of anabolism ( the constructive phase ) and catabolism ( the destructive phase ), in which complex materials are broken down for use by the body. Abnormal metabolism is then, the dysfunctioning of this process.

5 - Stress - is the body's reaction to a change that requires a physical, mental or emotional adjustment or response.

6 - Injuries - an injury is defined as damage or harm done to or suffered by, a person or thing.

7 - Genetics/Age - genetics is the branch of biology that deals with heredity. The focus is especially on the mechanisms of hereditary transmission, and the variation of inherited characteristics among similar or related organisms.

Age is the duration, or the measure of time, of the existence of a person, animal or other object.

8 - Toxins/ Free Radicals - a toxin is defined as a poisonous substance, especially a protein, that is produced by living cells or organisms and is capable of causing disease when introduced into the body tissues, but is often also capable of inducing neutralizing antibodies or antitoxins.

Reduce the Risk of Dog Health Problems

It is very important to realize that each of these causes promote specific and different dog health issues. The more causes your dog suffers from, the higher his risk of disease.

On the other hand, your dog's risk of serious disease significantly decreases as each individual cause is addressed. If you prevent multiple causes, you have tremendously increased the ability of your dog's body to prevent dog health issues.

In a nutshell...this is the whole idea behind natural dog health care. Prevent as many risks as you can right from the very beginning.

Nutrition Equals Prevention

Good dog nutrition is the foundation of good dog health care. Since nutritional deficiencies are the first cause of disease ( see above list ) it stands to reason that what you are feeding your dog is the first thing you must consider.

Your dog's body can heal itself, and prevent the causes of disease... if it is given the proper nutritional tools. In other words...the right food, good food, food that your dog can assimilate and use for cellular development.

Realize that your dog's body is actually made up of billions of individual living things called cells. Each cell must have certain things to survive. Those things are oxygen, nutrients, pure water, and heat.

Also, waste must be removed.

If your dog's cells are not supported in exactly this way, those cells will die, and disease will result.

The cells of your dog's body, make up specialized body systems and organs. Each organ and system has a special and unique job to do.

These cells also have specific needs. For example...the structural system requires more calcium, while the urinary system (kidneys) requires more potassium.

If the various specialized cells do not receive the correct nutrients, they cannot perform their specific functions. When this happens, it is like a chain effect. One thing affects the next, and the next, and so on.

Do You Have a Dog Health Question?

People are usually very concerned, when their pet starts to display symptoms of dog health problems. Generally, some of the common dog health problem questions I get, sound like this.

~ Why do I have a sick dog? I thought I was doing everything right?

~ What about dog vaccinations? Should I vaccinate my dog? There is much controversy around this topic.

~ I've been visiting animal shelters. If I get a dog from a shelter, how will I know if he is really healthy?

~ Puppy health is a big one! How can I make sure that I'm giving him proper dog health care for puppies.

~ What about vitamin supplements for my dog? Do I really have to supplement my dog's food?

~ And of course the really big one. Dog food brands...how can I make sense of all these dog nutrition facts?

Pure Breed Dogs and Genetic Diseases

Many pure breed dogs suffer from dog health problems incurred as a result of breeding practices. Genetic ( inherited ) health problems are #7 on the list above. Genetic predispositions, are just that, and nothing more. Once a genetic disease appears, it can be reversed. This is not easy, but it can be done.

One such example is the Pomeranian. Our little dog, Tuxedo is a case in point. We support him with herbs and supplements that help him cope with, and repair his predetermined genetic dog health issues.

The Holistic Approach to Dog Health Care

From an holistic perspective, we prefer not to look at your dog's symptoms. All symptoms suggest that there are bigger pet health question lurking deep inside. Instead, we go back to the root cause. This is the first link in the chain. This is where it all starts.

...and what exactly is the root cause, you say?

The answer is nutritional deficiencies. The first item on the list above. This can happen because your dog does not have a properly functioning digestive system or because the food is lacking in nutrients.

When the root cause of the disease is addressed, over time, generally, dog health will improve. The symptoms will clear up. This is the natural way of life. Given the correct natural circumstances all life will revert back to it's natural form. This is also the holistic approach to dog health care.

The same principles of health apply to dogs, humans, cats, and horses, the environment, and all things in life.

Your dog's body cannot and does not exist in pieces. Make the decision, to take care of your dog's body as a whole, so that he can enjoy that "wholeness" known as good dog health.

Everything Works Together

Once you understand how the different body systems work, you will understand how the body is a very complex network. Everything is related to, and dependent upon, everything else.

Health is a condition where all the tissues of the body are functioning in a normal manner. Disease therefore, is a lack of normal functioning in any part of the body.

Dog health care is no different than human health care. If good health were as simple as taking a drug or a pill, no dog or person would be ill.

Herbs are plants and usually come in a capsule. They are only food after all. Herbs provide micro-nutrients and trace elements that may be ( probably are ) lacking in your dog's food.

Natural dog health care is a process, not a pill. Herbs heal slowly and gently over time. Dogs respond very quickly to natural herbs.

Dogs do not have preconceived notions about natural healing, and are very open to natural holistic methods of dog health care.

You would never hear a dog say...

" Well, she wants me to take these herbs, I don't think they'll do much good, but what the heck, I guess I'll swallow them anyway. It'll keep her happy".

How Long Will It Take?

A good rule of thumb for figuring out how long it might take to get well is this. One month for every year plus three months to bring the body back into balance.

For example if your dog has had a skin rash for six months, then you would calculate one month plus three months to see improvement in dog health... a total of four months.

If you are able to embrace a few simple holistic dog health care ideas, and then, provide a high quality grain free dog food, along with the right herbs and supplements...guess what? Your dog is on the road to recovery and good dog health will follow.

Ideas you need to remember...

~ Good dog nutrition using natural dog food is the foundation for building good dog health.

~ The symptom is not the disease.

~ Understanding Body Systems is the key to solving dog health problems.

~ Herbs are plants. They are food in a capsule.

~ It will take one month for every year, plus three.

~ Dogs do not have preconceived ideas about herbs and natural holistic dog health care. You might, but your dog doesn't.
